  National Climate Change Registry

The Climate Change Directorate, under the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MENR), operates this National Climate Change Registry of mitigation, adaptation and enabling actions. The registry responds to Section 9(8) of the Climate Change Act, 2016 that requires the Directorate to establish and manage a registry of climate change actions.

The registry will enable government and non-government actors to better understand climate change actions in Kenya, and assist the Climate Change Directorate to fulfil domestic and international reporting requirements on climate change.

The registry includes actions that were taking place in 2013, the first year of Kenya’s National Climate Change Action Plan 2013-2017, and up to May 2017. The best available information is included for the actions in the registry, although information gaps remain.

Many partners and funders contribute to Kenya’s efforts to address climate change. We recognize that not all actions are included in this registry, which is a work in progress. The MENR is interested in learning about actions to address climate change underway in Kenya. Please provide any updates to:

The National Climate Change Registry was developed with the support of the Technical Assistance to the Government of Kenya (TA) Component of the Strengthening Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change in Kenya Plus (StARCK+) Programme, which is funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID). The TA Component is delivered by a consortium comprised of DAI, Matrix Development Consultants and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).
